HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's soccer team suffered a tough 5-0 loss to Thiel College this afternoon. Despite being on the losing end of the scoreboard, the women's soccer team hosted their annual Anti-Bullying game to support the fight against bullying and to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Before the game began, the Hilbert and Thiel players came together and released balloons into the sky to honor those affected by bullying.

The Tomcats of Thiel (2-6) got on the board just under fifteen minutes into the game, as  Morgan Berg's pass to the front of the goal deflected off Grace Adams hand and Alliana  Hardgrove put it in the back of the net. The score remained 1-0 for the next forty minutes until Berg netted her seventh goal of the season off Cheryl Ross's chip to the middle. The Hawks barely had time to regroup before Berg fed Hardgrove for another goal 74 seconds later. Berg eventually scored her eighth goal of the season and tallied another assist on the fifth goal by Elizabeth Wilkinson.

Thiel outshot Hilbert 13-12 and only had two more shots on goal than the Hawks (6-4). Jennifer Colvin led Hilbert with six shots, two of which were on net. Robbi Bailey and Courtney Vaccaro each recorded a shot on goal.

Hilbert was called off-sides eight times during the match, while Thiel did not record any off-sides calls. The Tomcats had six corner kicks to the Hawks' three.

Thiel's Mary Oakey recorded four saves in her shutout. Adams had one save in the loss.

The Hawks travel to Aurora, NY to play  Wells College on Tuesday, September 23 at 2pm.
