Hawks Get One Game in at Bradford to Open AMCC Play

BRADFORD, Pa. – Falling behind each inning by a single run, the Hilbert College baseball team suffered a 6-2 loss at Pitt-Bradford this afternoon in both team's opening Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule.

Hilbert finished the game with six hits with four Hawks striking out.  Bradford connected for 10 hits, were walked seven times and five Panthers were sent back to their dugout due to strikes.

Sal Carroccia went 3.2 innings and threw five walks with four strike outs while giving up seven hits.  Tyler Wangler finished the game on the mound and gave up three hits resulting in the other three runs.

Daniel Christmann went 2 for 3 and scored one of the two Hilbert runs, thanks to Paul Wujek's single to centerfield in the 3rd inning.

In the top of the 7th, Eric Flores reached on a fielding error and advanced to second base before the next pitch.  Kevin Moore's single gave Flores time to make it home for Hilbert's second run of the day.

Due to rain and field conditions, the second AMCC game had to be postponed.  No make-up date has been announced.

Hilbert's weekend game against Mount Aloysius College on April 4 has already been rescheduled to April 12th at St. Bonaventure University (1pm).   The Hawks (2-12, 0-1) are scheduled to host Medaille College April 8th.  Information on that game's location has not been determined at this time.
