Men's Basketball Drops Game Against Knights

The Alfred State Men's Basketball team fell in tonight's matchup against Geneseo 66-57.

The Pioneers trailed most of the game, trailing by as much as 16 points. Alfred State entered the locker room at halftime down 36-22. Slowly making their way back, the Pioneers found themselves back in striking distance with ten remaining in the half. A Geneseo missed three-point jumper and a Ryan Rosa (Middletown, NY / Middletown) layup made the score 50-44 with 10:24 remaining. The Knights pulled away again, leading by nine with two left in the game. Dylan Perry (Kingston, NY / Kingston) hit a three-point shot from a Paris Jamison (Brooklyn, NY / East Side) assist to bring the Pioneers back within six. As time ran out, Geneseo hit their free-throws and ultimately put the game away.

Rosa, Jamison, and Perry were all key in the Pioneers comeback effort. Perry and Jamison had 16 points in the game, the scoring leaders for Alfred State. Rosa had 13 points, all of them came in the second half.

Geneseo was led offensively by Michael Gentile, who was the scoring leader with 12 points for the Knights. His shot-making was a spark for Geneseo coming off the bench. Harrison Dignan, Pioneer Head Coach Jack Dignan's younger brother, tallied five assists in the game. A team captain for the Knights took advantage of the rare opportunity to play against a team coached by his older brother.

The Pioneers are back in action November 30, as they travel to Hamilton for a 7 p.m. match-up.
