Behrend Lions Men's Tennis Defeats Alfred, Falls to Westminster

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches, defeating Alfred 9-0 and then falling to Westminster 6-3 on Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club.

Noteworthy:

* Mitchell May (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was a three-time winner on the day
* May was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles against Alfred
* Against Westminster, May rallied back from a 6-2 deficit to win 6-4 and 10-2 in the tiebreaker
* May went undefeated in singles and posted an 8-7 win with Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) at No. 1 doubles
* Laier did not give up a set point vs. the Titans at No. 1 singles for the win 6-0 and 6-0
* Mason Harbaugh (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) tallied the second singles win against Westminster
* Harbaugh won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles
* Harbaugh got a second win at No. 1 doubles with Max Lu (Plum, PA/Plum), 8-4
* In the sweep of Alfred, Evan Dean (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) and Alex Graeca (DuBois, PA/DuBois) got the second doubles win at the No. 2 spot, 8-0
* The No. 3 doubles, No. 5 and 6 singles were won by forfeit
* The final singles wins against the Saxons were by Matthew McCullough (Penfield, PA/Dubois) and Ethan Hillhouse (Erie, PA/Hillhouse)
* McCullough was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles, while Hillhouse won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4
