HAMBURG, N.Y. – After building a 4-2 lead by intermission, the Hilbert College Women's Soccer team surrendered five second-half goals and fell in defeat to Bethany College this afternoon in the third game of a soccer triple-header on the Hawks Varsity Field.

Vanessa Van Slyke tallied her first career hat-trick over an 18-minute span in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bisons got on the board first with an unassisted hit in the ninth minute of action.
- Vanessa Van Slyke then went on a three-goal tear doing all her damage from the left corner of the field. She finished a nice pass from Grace Zabawa for her first goal, then took the ball down the left sideline and weaved her way to the net for her second hit. She completed another Zabawa cross-field pass to the back of the net which set the 3-1 lead at 28:04.
- Bethany knocked in a rebounded shot over the goal line in the 39th minute and Grace Zabawa bent her restart kick to the back corner at 44:23 giving Hilbert the 4-2 lead by intermission.
- Both teams traded goals early in the second half, but then Bethany put the offensive pressure on Hilbert's midfield and backline.
- The Bisons tacked on four goals by the final horn, two in a 90-second span.
GAME NOTES
- Bethany and Hilbert were pretty equal in attack, as the Bisons held a slight advantage in shots on goal (12-10).
- Hilbert was credited with four corner kicks, two in each half and both goalies finished with five saves in 90-minutes.
- Macy Kisner and Grace Zabawa each led with four shots, while Van Slyke went 3-for-3 on her attempts today.
