Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team concluded their breakthrough season with a program-record eighth victory in a 8-1 win over non-conference opponent Thiel College on Saturday afternoon at the Summit Athletic Center.
The Mounties finish their 2016 season with an overall record of 8-6, which included the program's first appearance in the AMCC postseason tournament.
Mount Aloysius swept doubles play as
Matt Hample and
Nick Goldyn won 8-4 at #1 doubles followed by a dominating 8-0 victory for
Nick Centar and
Justin Fleegle at #2 doubles.
Aubrey Brown and
Kevin Ouellette concluded the sweep with a 8-4 win at #3 doubles.
Hample then won 7-5, 6-2 at #1 singles and Centar clinched the match at #2 singles with a 10-3 tiebreaker victory. Fleegle, Goldyn and
Jalen Terry each won their singles matches before Thiel notched their lone win at #6 singles.
