Behrend Bends the Hawks
Box Score HAMBURG, N.Y. – Penn State Behrend used balanced scoring, strong passing and aggressive attacking to take a 6-1 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game at Hilbert College September 30. Hilbert's
Matt Hamister was able to redirect a corner kick to the back of the net late in the game, but that just wasn't enough to keep the Hawks in contest. Behrend stays in first place in the AMCC with an 8-3, 2-0 record while Hilbert continues to work for their first league win (2-7-1, 0-2).
By the ten minute mark, the Lions already held a 2-0 lead and when they hit their third score at 30:17, Behrend carried a 3-0 lead to the break. The visitors continued to send guys to the box and scored two more second half goals off rebound shots or a header off a restart kick (49:58).
Hamister delivered a
Tomas Bojkovski's corner past Behrend's Jarrod Wessell who was credited with two save before he exited after 61-minutes of play. Hilbert's
Brandon Henry finished with four saves before
Ryan Valentine (three saves) closed the last 21-minutes of the contest.
Behrend was consistent in their offensive attack, unleashing 15/13 each half to finish with a 28-10 advantage over Hilbert.
Hilbert returns to action this weekend when they travel to Mount Aloysius (5-5, 1-0) October 4.
