Redhawks add fourth win to their 4-0 streak

PITTSBURGH, PA - Tonight La Roche added to their win streak, now having come out on top for now four conference games in a row. The Redhawks shot 53.4 percent from the field; 60 points for LRU came from the paint.

Speaking of streaks, Ayanna Mazyck, who was also named AMCC player of the week this afternoon, added her third consecutive double double. Mazyck had 23 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

Although the Redhawks were able to dominate with a win in the end, going into halftime, it wasn't such a sure thing. In the second period, La Roche outscored Alfred St. by one point. Coming out at halftime LRU went to work. The team netted 25 points to ASC's 11, and in the fourth quarter, 23 to their 10. The defense was able to force 17 turnovers, and from those turnovers La Roche gained 21 points.

From these points freshman Makayla Abram once again had double digits with 20 points, and nine rebounds; only one away from a double double of her own. Abram averages just over 12 points a game and shoots just over 48 percent from the field. She has started every game except for one.

Danajah Sanders and Machia Hairston also put double digits in the scorebook tonight with 16, and 10, respectively.

Next up for the Redhawks is a rematch with Pitt-Greensburg. The last time these two teams played UPG gifted La Roche one of their two losses in conference. However, when they last played, four out of LRU's normal starters were out due to covid-19 protocol. With the whole team back, this may look like a very different game. Tipoff is at 5:30, don't forget to tune in!
