Baseball Hits It Well But Falls Twice to Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa.  - Hilbert College moved their weekend AMCC doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg a few days earlier hoping to grabbed a few wins, but the Hawks dropped a pair of one-run defeats to the Bobcats.

Greensburg rallied for an opening game 10-9 walk-off win in the 7th and Hilbert's 9th inning comeback fell one-run short, 6-5.

James DiSanti went 5 for 8 and Griffith DeMayo went 3 for 6 and they each rocketed the ball for a home runs.

The Hawks combined for 25 hits in the twin bill, their most productive series of the season. 

GAME ONE

Hilbert exploded with six runs in the top of the 1st, added one additional in the 2nd before they finished their scoring in the 4th en route to a 9-7 lead.  After two scoreless innings, Greensburg held the Hawks in the top of the 7th and then used a singe down thh left field line to earn the win.

DeMayo earned the Hawks first homer of the season scoring two runs at the top of the inning.  He finished the game with 3RBI while Ian Moran went 2 for 3 scoring thee runs. DiSanti opened the day with three hits and Noah Welch and Jonathan Wilson made contact twice.

Henry Bowers tossed three scoreless innings in the middle of the league game before Michael Goodberry stepped in the bottom of the 7th, taking the loss.   Daniel Munn earned the solo strike out and went 1.2 with one hit and no earned runs.

GAME TWO

Playing through another tight contest, Hilbert built a 4-2 lead through six innings.  The Bobcats notched three runs in the bottom of the 7th and added one more in the 8th.  
After scoring one run in the top of the 9th, the Hawks stranded the tying run with consecutive outs.

DeMayo went 2 for 3, scored one run and hit the opening sac RBI in the 1st inning.

Tristan Aldinger also went 2 for 3 (double) and scored one run while DiSanti hit the team's second home run of the season lifting Hilbert into a 3-1 lead in the 4th.

Jordan Brown left the mound after seven innings of work where he struck out four, walked three with nine hits, three earned runs.

Make sure you stop by Wednesday, April 24th when the Hawks (5-23, 3-13) host Alfred State College in a 1pm game.  The baseball team will honor their three seniors, Tristan Aldinger, Treyton delaCuesta and Michael Goodberry prior to the start of the double header AMCC contest.
