Redhawks Host Hilbert College in AMCC Game of the Week

McCANDLESS, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball looks to extend their win streak to nine games tomorrow afternoon when they take on Hilbert College in the AMCC Game of the Week. The Hawks, the reigning AMCC champs, are currently on a nine-game win streak of their own and right behind the Redhawks in the conference standings with an 8-1 record in AMCC action. Tip-off is set for approximately 4:15 p.m. following the conclusion of the La Roche Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

La Roche (OVR: 9-4, AMCC: 9-0)

Last Time Out: La Roche took down Franciscan on the road on Wednesday (1/15) evening, 57-47. After scoring just four points in the first quarter while shooting 2 of 14 (14%) from the field, the Redhawks managed to turn their offense around and shot 42% from the floor over the next three quarters. Dasja Anderson led the way for La Roche by scoring a career-high 24 points while adding three rebounds, three assists and one steal to the stat sheet. Anderson was fouled heavily in the contest, but made the most of her opportunities at the line, knocking down 8 of 9 free throw attempts. Jenna Cole nearly recorded her first double-double of the season, posting 14 points and 9 rebounds. Cole shot just 1 of 7 from the field in the first half but turned things around and drained 4 of 5 field goal attempts in the second. Cole and Anderson accounted for 67% of La Roche's points.

  • The 11-3 Hawks sit in second place (8-1) behind the undefeated Redhawks.
  • Senior guards, Taylor Corts and Emily Gawlak, who average major minutes, pace the offense with a 17.0 and 16.9 points per game averages.  Gawlak can score in spurts in transition, off the bounce and behind the arc. Corts positions herself in the paint as easily as she unloads from downtown.
  • Senior Ashley Repine, working her way back from an off-season injury, can cause damage near the rim and freshman Macy Kisner is an athletic weapon on both offense and defense.
