Behrend Women's Basketball Comes Back to Defeat Fredonia

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team closed the 2022 home schedule Tuesday night with a come-from-behind 83-73 non-conference win over the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

Key Moments:

* The Blue Devils shot 73 percent in the first 10 minutes, including 4-of-5 from long distance, to take a 26-12 lead after a quarter
* The Lions settled down in the second stanza to close the gap to 42-37 at intermission
* Fredonia State shot 56 percent in the first half and held the Lions to 28 percent accuracy
* High-scoring Renee Park led the Blue Devils with 10 points in the first half while freshman Morgan Altavilla (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) paced Behrend with eleven, five coming in the last few seconds
* Behrend took its first lead (48-47) when freshman Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) drained a triple with six-and-a-half to play in the third and extended the margin to five (60-55) after thirty minutes of play
* Behrend posted a 23-18 advantage in the fourth and outdistanced the Blue Devils 46-31 in the second half
* Sophomore Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) and Boyer led the way for Behrend with career highs of 28 and 22 points, respectively
* After scoring a combined eleven points in the first half on 4 of 20 shooting, the duo combined for 39 points in the second half, hitting 15 of 20 attempts with Boyer netting six triples
* Altavilla ended the contest with 14
* The Lions forced 21 Fredonia turnovers which produced 25 points. Behrend had a slight edge in rebounding (47-45), took 18 more shots, and mde six more from beyond the arc. The Lions got only six points from their bench.
