Men's Basketball Bounces Back with a Win against Pitt-Bradford

PITTSBURGH, PA - The men's basketball team was able to bounce with a win this afternoon against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. It wasn't an easy win for the Redhawks by far.

Both teams were neck and neck until the very end. Within 40 minutes fans saw 9 ties and 10 lead changes. At half-time, La Roche was up by two, but the Panthers weren't going down without a fight.

Joe Pipilo once again proved to be a leader on the court. The senior shot 57% from three-point range, 66% overall, and hit 100% of his free throws. Pipilo earned 18 points on the night.

La Roche had a tricky team breaking into the paint this afternoon, the only place where the Panthers notably dominated. What made up for this though was the Redhawk defense crashing hard on the boards. The team did not let Pitt-Bradford earn a single second change point, whereas the Redhawks earned 15. This triumph came from strong rebounding led by Devon Darrell, who led the team with 8 rebounds. He also led in points with 20 and assists with 5.

The real star of the show this afternoon was La Roche's free throw percentage. La Roche shot 94.4% from the free-throw line this afternoon. Those made shots were what brought how the win for the team. Michael Brooks earned 11 points this afternoon, and 4 came from the foul line.

The Redhawks will be on the road the next two games before they are back on Scott Lang Court. Wednesday's contest will be a 7 PM tip-off against Pitt-Greensburg.
