Fort Myers, Fla. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford lost their first two games in Ft. Myers, Fla. on Monday, falling to Albion 2-0 and Kenyon 7-4.

Game 1:

• The Panthers struggled early, as they struck out 7 times in the first three innings. While Pitt-Bradford was working to get into rhythm, Starting Pitcher Kindra Wessels was able to hold the Britons at bay, keeping them off the board through four. She did run into trouble but was able to strand the bases loaded in the 2nd and runners in scoring position in the 3rd and 4th. 
• Pitt-Bradford threatened to score in the 5th, as Hannah Fisher led the inning off with a single into left-center. She was replaced by pinch-runner Sadie Wood, who moved to second on a successful sacrifice bunt from KT Marx. Unfortunately, the Panthers were unable to bring Wood around to score as the next two batters struck out and flew out to right field to end the inning.
• While the Panthers did not take advantage of their chance in the 5th, Albion did, tagging Wessels for two runs. Wessels walked the leadoff batter and then after a pop-up, allowed a single down the left-field line. The runner moved to third on the hit and the batter was able to take second on the attempted throw to get the runner at third. The next batter drove a single back up the middle to bring both runs around. Wessels was removed after a third straight single and replaced by Ashley Stein. Stein stepped in and got a fielder's choice and a strikeout to end the inning and limit the damage to just two runs.
• Over the final two innings, the Panthers were only able to reach on a two-out walk in the 6th, finishing the game 2-0.

Kindra Wessels (0-2) picks up the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 6 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings pitched. She struck out 6. Stein was unblemished over the final 1 and 2/3s, striking out one batter. Pitt Bradford was only able to muster two hits in the game, singles by Lexi Peters and Hannah Fisher. 

Game 2:

The second game of the day saw the Panthers jump out to an early 3-0 lead but a big inning from Kenyon in the 4th turned the momentum, resulting in a Panther loss.

• For the first time this season, the Panthers were able to get on the board first, as they tallied a run in the top of the 1st inning. Wessels singled to right-center and then moved to second on a Dolcey Shunk sacrifice bunt. After a fly-out to left, Lexi Peters drove a two-out single to left-center to bring in Wessels and put the Panthers up one. 
• Lindsay Steele started for the Panthers, and took advantage of her early lead, retiring the side in order to get her offense back to the plate. The Panthers rewarded her, as they doubled their advantage in the second. Meghan Kapp led off with a line-drive single through the right side of the infield and moved all the way to third when Madison Camp dropped a sacrifice bunt and reached on a throwing error. Marguerite DeFranco hit a long sacrifice fly to left to bring in Kapp, but Camp was caught off the base on the play resulting in two outs. Wessels was able to single and steal second with two outs but was unable to score as a Shunk grounder to third ended the inning.
• Steele kept Kenyon off the board in the 2nd and the Panthers used the resulting momentum to add a third run in the 3rd. Faith McLaughlin provided the lead-off single this time, and after a pop up advanced to second on a Chloe Cordova sacrifice bunt. Paige Wertheimer delivered a two-out single down the left-field line to bring her around and put the Panthers up 3-0.
• Things began to fall apart for the Panthers in the bottom of the third. Kenyon scored 4 runs on just 3 hits, 3 Panther errors, and four wild pitches from Steele to jump into the lead. 
• Stein replaced Steele after a scoreless 4th for the Panthers. She ran into immediate trouble as the lead-off batter singled up the middle and then stole second base after a fly ball to center. Stein walked the next batter and then saw both runners advance on a double steal. She was removed after a bloop single allowed a run to score.
• Kindra Wessels moved from the flex position into the field and walked the first batter she faced to load the bases. She then got a sacrifice fly to right and a fly to center to end the inning with just one more run crossing the plate.
• After a scoreless 5th, The Panthers were able to pull a run back in the 6th. Paige Wertheimer drove a long double over the left fielder's head to begin the inning and was replaced by Rachel Przybysz on the basepaths. Przybysz moved to third on the next play as Hannah Fisher was given a single after interference was called at shortstop. She scored a batter later when she beat the tag after a Madison Camp fielder's choice. Consecutive force outs at third slowed the Panther rally and it came to an end after a Shunk infield single loaded the bases, when Faith McLaughlin popped out to short.
• The momentum did not stay with the Panthers for long as Kenyon got the run right back in their half of the 6th. The Ladies hit a two-out double to the left-centerfield gap and then scored on a single through the left side.
• The Panthers were retired in order in the 7th to bring the game to an end.

Pitt-Bradford amassed 12 hits in the game, nearly equaling their total from their first five contests. Wessels, Peters and Wertheimer all finished 2 for 4 in the game with Wessels scoring a run and Peters and Wertheimer each bringing one around. Marguerite DeFranco also picked up an RBI, finishing 1 for 1 with a sacrifice fly. Lindsay Steele (0-2) received the loss after allowing 4 unearned runs on 4 hits in 3 innings pitched. She struck out three batters. Kindra Wessels was effective in relief, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 2 and 2/3 innings pitched.

Pitt-Bradford moves to 0-6 on the season after the losses. They will be right back in action tomorrow as they take on Elms and Drew. Games begin at 9:00 a.m.
