Mounties Split Matches against Barons and Chargers


Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team split a pair of weekend matches as the Mounties fell 8-1 to host Franciscan University on Saturday before bouncing back to defeat Lancaster Bible by a final margin of 9-0 on Sunday.

In the loss to the Barons on Saturday, Nick Centar provided the win for the Mounties with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles. However, Franciscan swept the doubles matches and won the remainder of the singles matches to notch the victory.

On Sunday, Mount Aloysius responded with a dominant 9-0 victory over the Chargers. Nick Goldyn and Matt Hample recorded a 8-0 win at #1 doubles followed by a 8-1 victory for Trent McErlane and Aubrey Brown at #2 doubles. Centar and Jalen Terry completed the doubles sweep with a 8-4 win at #3 doubles. In singles play, Goldyn, Hample, McErlane, Brown, Terry and Centar each won from #1 singles to #6 singles respectively. 

The Mounties now have an overall record of 5-4 and currently are 1-1 in the AMCC. They will return to the court on Saturday with a home matchup against Penn State Behrend at 11:00 a.m.
