Heftka Assists Hawks Volleyball In Final Games of Season



JUNIATA, Pa. – Hilbert College fell twice today in non-conference matches to close-out their final weekend of competition for the 2015 season. 

The Hawks took Eastern Meninite University to a four-set match, winning the first game before dropping the final three (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21). 

Then, in a rematch against No. 4 Juniata, Hilbert suffered a straight-set loss to complete their year, 3-25 overall and 3-11 in the NEAC league for first year head coach Christopher Krueger.

Korey Schwab (11 kills),  Andrew Wolbert (10 kills) and Brett Kane (9 kills) were the primary targets for Adam Heftka who finished the opening match against EMU with 33 assists and 13 digs.

Ryan Ratajczak led with 17 digs, his third highest total for the season and Schwab and Kane added 11 and 10 digs respectively.

Ryan Brewster posted Hilbert's two solo blocks and added a block assist along with four kills.

Juniata controlled the pace of the final match limiting Hilbert to 14, 16 and 14 points.   The hosts finished their match with 42 kills (.381) and held Hilbert to (.049) attack percentage. 

Korey Schwab connected with nine kills (.194) and Andrew Wolbert added five kills (.429). With only 20 Hilbert kills, Adam Heftka was credited with only 19 assists.

Ryan Ratajczak picked up six digs while Tanner Makowski (solo block) and Heftka added five digs.

The NEAC men's volleyball play-offs continue next weekend at Medaille College, who finished as the number one seeded team in the four-team tournament.  D'Youville closed their season as the number two seed and Wells and SUNY Poly finished in a three-way tie with Keuka for third place.  Wells claimed the third seed and SUNY Poly the final seed to complete the NEAC league's field of four battling for the automatic bid to the Division III NCAA tournament.
