Baseball Bounced at Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – Big hits by the host helped Pitt-Bradford grab two AMCC baseball wins today against Hilbert College.

Eric Flores and Ryan Bonafede had hot bats in the opening game loss (11-6) while Bradley Perrin and Dalton Reynolds did the dirty work in the 15-5 nightcap defeat.

GAME 1

After three innings, Hilbert trailed Bradford, 3-2.  The Hawks added four more runs, tacking two on in the fifth, with one in each of the final two innings.  The Panthers found seven runs in the fifth inning after they scored a solo run in the fourth to claim an 11-6 victory.

Eric Flores went 3-for-4 with 3RBIs and was joined by Ryan Bonafede, who also picked up three hits, but all doubles in his four at bats, and scored two runs.

Henry Bowers (3-3) went 4.1 innings giving up nine earned runs with a pair of strike outs and walks.

GAME 2

The Panthers got on board in the third inning with a 2RBI double followed by an RBI triple to build a 4-0 lead.

Ryan Perrin moved Dalton Reynolds to third on his double to center field and they both made it home off a wild pitch and an ensuing error which sliced the Panther lead to two runs by the middle of the fifth.  Bradford tacked on two more runs off sacrifice hits before the Hawks narrowed the gap to one run at the top of the sixth.

Bradley Perrin hit an RBI single to center field and Reynolds immediately followed with a 2RBI hit up the middle setting a 6-5 score.

The hosts collected seven more runs to close the nine-inning game at 15-5.

Dalton Reynolds went 3-for-4, scored a run and 2RBI while Bradley Perrin matched his efforts at the plate but pushed in one run.

Winfred Nelson took the loss on the mound with eight hits, six earned runs, one strike out and seven walks.

Hilbert returns to the diamond tomorrow for a make-up double header against Penn State Altoona.  The game might be played a little earlier than normal in an effort to get ahead of the late afternoon, evening rain on Wednesday.  Stay connected to the website/twitter for details as to the start time.
