Redhawks Drop Two at Grove City Tri-Match

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The La Roche women's volleyball program dropped two matches on Satturday at a tri-match hosted by Grove City College. In game one, the Redhawks fell in a close match with Regent University, 3-1. Later on in the day, the hosts, Grove City, swept LRU. La Roche is now 2-6 overall this season and in non-conference play.

LRU got out to a hot start against Regent University, winning the first set decisively 25-15. Then, Regent would win the next three straight sets by a combined score of 76-59 to steal the first match. The win was the Royals, now 1-3, first of the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Tomasko (Connellsville, PA / Geibel Catholic) had a team and season-high 10 kills. Junior Cassidy Rossi (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) had a career-high 21 assists and 10 digs. It's Rossi's third double-double of the season and fifth game with 10+ assists. Sydney Herzer had a game-high 30 digs, her second 30 digs game of the season. Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Jeric (Salem, OH / Salem) posted a season-high nine kills. Sophomore Rory McCune (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) notched a season-high eight kills. Mackenzie Kerkan (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) and Krystal Anda (Huber Heights, OH/Wayne) recorded 10 digs a piece. Anda also had a season-high 20 assists.

In the second game of the day against GC, La Roche fell three sets to none, marking the fifth time the Redhawks have been swept this season. The Wolverines won the first two sets by nine points a piece. The Redhawks came back from a seven point deficit in the third set to tie it, but Grove City ultimatly would pull away 21-25 to win the set and the match. GC is now 4-3 overall on the season.

NEXT UP: LRUVB gets a well deserved five day break before heading to the Allegheny Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny College this Friday and Saturday, September 17th and 18th.
