PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Hilbert College women's soccer team found themselves in a 3-0 hole by half time and fell in defeat to La Roche College on the road this afternoon.
Hilbert dropped to 2-3 in AMCC action as they continue to battle for a play-off spot in three weekends.
La Roche improved 3-2 (5-6-1 overall) after the 3-0 shutout over the Hawks (2-8-1).
The Redhawks scored just two and a half minutes into the game and added their second tally about eight minutes later.
Jenna Castricone gave up one final goal just before intermission and then gave the goalie box to freshman
Brianna Stegmeier the final period. Castricone finished with five saves while Stegmeier posted her first shutout half with eight saves.
La Roche unleased 22 shots while limiting Hilbert to six. Both teams attempted only one corner kick.
Alyssa Siracuse (4) and
Gina Mallone (2) took all of Hilbert's shots this afternoon.
The Hawks will travel for a night game in Erie, Pa. next week. Penn State Behrend, undefeated in league play (4-0), will host the Hawks at 7:30pm October 10.
