Softball is defeated by the Lions

PITTSBURGH,PA- This afternoon the Redhawks fought hard to be able to steal a win from Penn State-Behrend, but in the end fell just short.

Game One

In the first matchup of the day Alexis Myers started off on the mound. She allowed 10 hits, four runs, and two strikeouts.

Myers and Ashtin Hoover were the owners of the only two hits for La Roche. No one for La Roche earned an RBI.

Earning the win for the Lions was Ashleigh Schmidt who stayed strong for all seven innings. She allowed two hits, no runs, and she was able to strike out nine batters.

Game Two

In the next game the Redhawks took a clean slate to heart and drilled in six runs in their first outing at bat.

Leading the rally was Brandi Clyde who got the first run first run in. She was quickly followed by Garrah Milochick who pushed everyone around and earned an RBI.

Emilee Waldrop singled a shot out to left field letting the merry-go round continue.

Abby Hoffman stole the show, rocketing a double to center field and driving in three runners, giving the Redhawks a very early 6-0 lead.

Ashtin Hoover was able to cross home plate on an error.

Regrettably for La Roche, the Lions were not willing to give up. They chipped away until they finally earned their big break in the fifth and sixth inning; scoring eight runs between the two, also allowing them to take the lead.

The Redhawks tried to rally in their turn at bat in the sixth inning when Kelly Denk was able to sneak through on an error, but it was not enough to earn them back the lead.

Emilee Waldrop will take the loss for La Roche. She let in nine runs, and eight hits.

The Redhawks will be back in action, and on the road on Thursday against Alfred State. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 PM.
