Hyman and Simon Combine For Hawks Points Against Caz

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Hilbert College suffered a 14-5 NEAC setback this afternoon in men's lacrosse and with the loss, the Hawks dropped out of play-off contention.  The 6-2 Cazenovia Wildcats stayed in second place overall as Hilbert moved to fifth place with a 4-3 conference record.

Nathaniel Hyman led the Hawks with four points, scoring twice at the start of the first quarter and the final marker in the game with 0:23 on the clock.  Matthew Simon scored twice, adding to his already career-leading goal totals.

Adam Zawadzki was credited with nine saves in the loss while he faced 41 shots (23 on goal) on the day.

Hilbert jumped ahead early in the game taking a 3-2 lead into the quarter break.  Cazenovia responded with a 4-1 score in the second quarter and then controlled the pace of the game the entire second half, outscoring Hilbert 8-1.

Cazenovia finished with advantages in shots (41-22), ground balls (36-22), face-offs (18-4) while neither team was successful in extra man opportunities (0-5 on both sides).  12 of Hilbert's turnovers were tagged as "Caused".

The Hawks return to Hamburg this weekend and will host #1 ranked Morrisville at 2pm April 29.  The men's lacrosse program will honor their 10 seniors prior to the start of the game and they invite family, friends and classmates to come out and support the team in their final regular season game.

Even though the men are knocked out of the NEAC post-season, Hilbert will host the AMCC Showcase Tournament which will be held Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7 in Hamburg.  The #1 Hawks will host #4 Medaille College later in the day on May 5 while #2 Alfred State will battle #3 Franciscan in an early afternoon game.
