ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team collected the first win of the 2022 season with a 3-2 decision over Buffalo State at the Rochester Invitational on Saturday. The Lions fell in the nightcap to the hosts, 3-0.

Noteworthy:

* Senior middle hitter Sarah Cole (Jackson Center, PA/Lakeview) was named to the All-Tournament Team

Match One:
Final Score: Behrend 3, Buffalo State 2 (25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 16-14)

Match One:

* The match marked the second-straight five-set contest for the Lions
* Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) tallied her second consecutive double double
* Phillips led with 13 kills and 11 digs
* Three other players had double-digit digs led by Sara Novak (Lower Burrell, PA/Burrell) with 15
* Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) tallied a career-high 30 assists
* Behrend won the first set, before falling behind 2-1
* The Lions won the fourth set 25-20 and then edged the Bengals 16-14 in the fifth set
* Cole added 10 kills and Breana Reynolds (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) knocked down 11 kills

Final Score: Rochester 3, Behrend 0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-19)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-2), Rochester (4-0)

Match Two:

* Rochester held a 41-22 advantage in kills to win in three sets
* Phillips added seven more kills to her match one total for 20 on the day
* Sara Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) led with 10 digs, while Bridget Dorr (El Segundo, CA/El Segundo) recorded 17 assists and two aces
* Three freshmen got their first collegiate kills in the match led by Maura Benim (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) with three
