Moore Records Three RBIs in Doubleheader with Allegheny

The Alfred State baseball team moves to 0-7 after losing two games to the Allegheny College Gators on Saturday.

Game one: ASC 2, AC 3

The Pioneers recorded 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and 1 error.

The Gators had 6 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and 0 errors.

Pioneer Leaders:

Gavin Moore (Hilton) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

What Happened:

Allegheny scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second off a triple to the right side.

Moore hit a two-run single to center to plate Nick Serce (Irondequoit) and Mason Gonzalez (Hamburg) in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.

The Gators scored one in the bottom of the fourth and another in the bottom of the fifth off a double and a single.

Pioneer Pitching:

Nick Serce (Irondequoit) (L, 0-2) pitched 6 innings and allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, walked 2 and struck out 8. 

Game two: ASC 3, AC 5

The Pioneers recorded 6 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and 2 errors.

The Gators had 8 hits, 5 runs, 5 RBIs and 1 error.

Pioneer Leaders:

Moore went 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Jack Curabba (Shohola, Pa/Delaware Valley) had two RBIs.

What happened:

Allegheny took a 3-0 lead after scoring one in the bottom of the third off a triple and two in the fifth off a sacrifice fly and another triple.

Moore hit a single to plate Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) in the top of the sixth.

The Gators scored off another sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth.

Curabba doubled to left field to plate Brody Burdett (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) and Owen Lansing (Lyncourt/Solvay) in the top of the seventh.

Allegheny scored off another triple in the bottom of the eighth.

Pioneer Pitching:

Ryan Bailey (Union Springs) (L, 0-1) pitched 5.2 innings and allowed 7 hits, 4 runs and struck out 3. 

Chris Baldwin (Patchogue- Medford) pitched 1 inning and walked 1.

Jon White (Clarence) (L, 0-1) pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 1 hit, 1 run and struck out 1. 

The Pioneers will finish their three-game series against Allegheny on Sunday at noon.
