Sullivan Tosses a Gem to Snap Pioneers Win Streak

The Alfred State baseball team had their four game winning streak snapped by Coast Guard on Thursday. Brett Sullivan tossed a shutout to lead the Bears to the 3-0 victory.

Sullivan struck out 13 and didn't walk a batter as he earned the shutout. He allowed a leadoff single to Tim Holler (Brewster) and a 8th inning single to Colin Johnson.

Sullivan got the run support he needed in the 6th inning. RBI singles by Jon Pressley and and Jake Behne got the Bears on the board. A sac fly by Jeremy Lhotka added an insurance run in the 7th.

The Pioneer pitching staff allowed just eight singles in the contest. Gabe Lewis (Arkport) allowed two hits in two innings of work, Ryan Demitrovic (Churchville) allowed three hits and two runs in four innings while Nicholas Scala (Staten Island/Moore Catholic) allowed three hits and one run in two innings of work.

The blue & gold (5-6) head to Tampa for a pair of games at the New York Spring Training Complex. They take on NYU on both Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m.
