Reding Nets 20 Points in La Roche Loss

Josh Reding (Spencerport) scored twenty points for the Alfred State men's basketball team in their 94-80 loss to the La Roche Redhawks on Saturday afternoon inside the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.

The Pioneers move to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the AMCC while the Redhawks improve to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Alfred State recorded a 45.3 field goal percentage and out-shot the Redhawks in three-pointers with 42.3% and free throws with 64.7%. The Pioneers recorded 25 rebounds and 17 assists.

Reding went 5-for-7 in three-pointers and had six assists and three rebounds. Mekhi Belcher (Syracuse, NY / Union Endicott) recorded 15 points and a team-high of seven rebounds. Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) added ten points with two assists and three rebounds. Isaiah Kostyal (Poughkeepsie, NY / Arlington) had nine points and Ryan Rosa (Middletown) had eight.

The Pioneers trailed 50-33 at halftime but out-scored the Redhawks 47-44 in the second half.

La Roche took their largest lead of 25-points with 12:04 remaining in the game but Alfred State was able to cut it to 14-points by the end.

The men head to Medaille on Wednesday, Jan. 12 for a conference game at 5:30 p.m.
