CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – After 11 battles this month, the women's volleyball team finally captured their first victory of the season at Cazenovia College tonight.

Hilbert took the hard-fought, 4-set match (22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23) and got a taste of victory just as they turn the corner and head to league action this weekend.

The Hawks posted season-high numbers in kills (28), attempts (114), assists (24) a whopping 22 service aces, digs (75) and eight block assists against the 2-9 Wildcats.

Sophomore Outside Hitter Torianna LeWand posted game-high numbers in kills (11) and digs (17) while sharing game-high assist honors (11) with freshman setter Jasmine Branch.

Sophomore Middle Blocker Ashley Repine also scored 10 kills and 12 digs, but her eye-popping numbers were in service aces.   Of the 22 Hilbert service aces tracked, Repine finished with 10, most likely a new single-game program record. 

Sierra Seader added four service aces and 12 digs while Branch chipped in three aces.  Sierra McLaughlin was credited with 12 digs in the four set match.

The Hawks have a few days off before they host a four-team, all day, AMCC Cross Over weekend September 23.

Hilbert (1-11) will battle Franciscan (1-8) at 11am before Medaille (0-13) hosts Pitt-Greensburg (1-11) in the Hafner Recreation Center at 1pm.  Franciscan returns to action against Medaille at 3pm while Hilbert holds on for the 5pm final game-of-the-day against Pitt-Greensburg.
