Baseball Wins Third Straight; Lions Defeat North Central

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team won their third straight game, defeating North Central 10-2 on the third day of their spring-break trip on Tuesday.

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions ripped a season-high 14 hits to score a season-best 10 runs in the win
* Zach Bowen (Pittsburgh, PA/Sierra Catholic) had a 4-for-5 day with three RBI|
* The Lions registered five doubles, including two from Bowen
* The teams battled through three scoreless innings before both teams got on the board in the fourth
* North Central scored a run in the top of the frame and Behrend countered with three
* After the Rams added another run in the fifth, the Lions did the rest of the scoring
* In the seventh, the order was able to do their job in getting on base and then getting home for three runs and a 6-2 lead
* Behrend registered insurance runs in the eighth, knocking in four more
* Josh Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park) tallied two hits, two RBIs and scored three runs
* Juston Jones (Moon Township, PA/Moon) also posted two hits, two runs and a double
* Derrick Shields (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) got the start and his first collegiate win, pitching five innings for a 1.80 ERA and striking out five batters
* Noah Schneider (DuBois, PA/DuBois) pitched three innings of relief and struck out four
