Behrend Lions Face Stockton in NCAA First Round at Johns Hopkins

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will travel to Baltimore, Maryland and the campus of Johns Hopkins University to take on the Stockton Ospreys (30-3) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

The Lions (19-10) are making their fourth appearance in the 64-team tournament, earning the automatic bid after winning their fifth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship with a 3-0 win over Pitt-Bradford on Sunday.

The No. 6 Blue Jays will host the eight-team NCAA Regional with other first-round matches including No. 16 Susquehanna (31-6) vs. Westminster (PA) (26-6) at 12:30 p.m., No. 19 Carnegie Mellon (22-7) vs. Stevens (20-11) at 3 p.m., and lastly Johns Hopkins vs. Manhattanville (24-5) at 8 p.m.

Friday's winners will play in the regional semifinals on Saturday with the regional final set for Sunday.

Stockton is making its 15th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Ospreys won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship with a 3-1 win over Rowan University on Saturday to earn the conference's automatic bid. 

The Behrend Lions and Stockton Ospreys are meeting for the second time in program history. The Ospreys defeated the Lions 3-2 on Oct. 12, 2013 in the Neumann College Tournament in Ashton, Pa.
