WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday night, when the Lions defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille College 6-3 at the Village Glen Tennis Club.

The Lions (3-5, 3-1 AMCC) had a big day in singles, getting five of their six points in the match from victories during singles play. With the win, Penn State Altoona hands Medaille (3-2, 2-1 AMCC) its first conference loss of the season.

The Mavericks earned the early lead in the match by posting wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles slots. Penn State Altoona picked up one point with a win in the No. 1 doubles match, where the duo of Joey Toth (South Park, PA/South Park)/Tommy Davis (Memphis, TN/Collierville) prevailed 8-5 for their third doubles win together this season.

However, Penn State Altoona surged back to win the match, taking five out of six singles matches to defeat Medaille by three points. Toth and Davis each earned their third singles wins of the season in the top two spots, as Toth defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 match and Davis posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match. Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) registered his team-leading sixth singles win with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph in the No. 3 match.
