MVB: Wildcats Defeat Wells in Straight Sets on the Road.

AURORA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team won convincingly on Wednesday night 3-0 over Wells College. The Wildcats won the sets 25-8, 25-18, 25-12 with an impressive team hitting percentage of .380 with 36 kills on 71 swings. They also had 12 service aces as a team.  SUNY Poly is now 2-5 this season.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats were simply the better team in the matchup. In the first set, the team hit over .400 in the first (.423) and the third set (.562). They set the tone with a dominant 25-8 win in the first set and were solid on the service line with 12 aces as a team. They also won at the net, recording six total blocks. Wells hit -.067 as a team with 11 kills and 16 errors on 75 swings.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Kohei Clark led the Wildcats with nine kills on 12 swings with a .667 hitting percentage. He also had a match-high seven aces, three digs, and a block assist.
  • Nathan Farnham had an outstanding game for the Wildcats. He had a .700 hitting percentage with eight kills. He also had a match-high 22 assists, eight digs, a service ace, and a block assist.
  • Jason Aubrey had a match-high 10 digs for the Wildcats with eight kills and two aces.
  • Connor Garvey was the lone bright spot for the Express. He was the only player with a positive hitting percentage with a team-high six kills on 18 swings. He also had an ace, seven digs, and a block assist.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host Sage College on Wednesday, February 8th at the Wildcat Field House. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start. The match will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN)
