BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Hilbert College men's volleyball team opened their NEAC portion of the schedule with a 3-0 loss to cross-town rival D'Youville on Tuesday night. 

Michael Podgorny posted his second straight double-double of the season finishing with 12 kills and 10 digs. He also contributed one service ace and a solo block to the Hawks in the losing effort. 

The Hawks struggled at the net throughout sets one and two, totaling only 7 kills to go along with 20 errors. D'Youville caught fire offensively in set two finishing with 8 kills, and 1 error on only 17 total attacks.

While Hilbert controlled much of the third set and actually outscored their opponent, they were unable to take advantage, falling 23-25 to the host Spartans. The final set saw the Hawks produce more kills than they had in the first two sets combined.

Coming up, Hilbert will host two consecutive Wednesday night matches. The Lions of Penn State Behrend will make the trip up to Hamburg on February 1 for a 7pm match before the Hawks get an early season opportunity for redemption when they rematch D'Youville at home on February 8.
