Eagles Sweep The Mounties For First Win of The Year

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's tennis team swept Mount Aloysius 9-0 on Friday afternoon at the Raffensperger and Brumbaugh courts to earn their first win of the year. 

The match started off strong with a win at first doubles with Kristen Lucas (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) and Olivia Ackley (Clearville, Pa.) scoring 8-3 against their opponents from Mt. Aloysius. Kady Lohr (Shanksville, Pa.) and Marilyn Ogof (Lake Ariel, Pa.) also secured a win in second doubles with a score of 8-1. Mia Kazakavage (Lewisburg, Pa.) and Olivia Day (Duncansville, Pa.) earned three points for the day by default. 

This momentum carried the Eagles into singles play as Lucas swept the first singles match 6-0, 6-0. Lohr and Ogof were able to defeat their opponents in second singles and third singles as well, with scores of 6-2, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-2, respectfully. Ackley championed fourth singles with a score of 6-0, 6-3, while Kazakavage blanked her opponent in fifth singles scoring 6-0, 6-0. Day won in sixth singles by default to earn the Eagles' ninth point. 

The Eagles look to repeat this energy at home against Lycoming on Tuesday, October 5 at 4:00 pm.
