Pioneers Score Six in Victory over Hilbert

Five different Pioneers scored as Alfred State defeated Hilbert 6-0 in the rain and wind at Pioneer Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers wrap up the regular season with a 6-10 overall record await seeding for the AMCC Tournament.

The Pioneers scored five goals in the 1st half to take control of the game.  Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford Mendon) started the scoring in the 18th minute after getting a pass from Anthony Smith (Springville Griffith). Jean Baptiste Kagde (Rochester/Early College) scored just over two minutes later after getting set up by Jack Leahy (Pittsford Sutherland). Sarbudak scored his second unassisted in the 27th minute.

Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford) scored his third in the last two games when he pounded in a rebound of a shot by David Benson (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa). Hunter Hollock (Tonawanda) capped the scoring in the 1st half in the 41st minute after getting a pass from Larabee.

Leng Van (Buffalo/Maryvale) headed in a corner kick from Zack Linderman (Olean) in the 71st minute to account for the only goal in the 2nd half.

The Pioneers collected 42 shots, 26 on goal, in the contest. Thad Grierson (Perry) recorded the shutout in net for the Pioneers.

The official seeding for the AMCC Tournament, which begins on Saturday, will be announced tomorrow morning. Alfred State will most likely be the #5 seed and travel to #4 Pitt Bradford.
