LRU Falls to CMU in First Road Contest

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season to the #5 ranked team in the country, Carnegie Mellon University, Friday evening at CMU. The nationally ranked Tartans thrwarted the Redhawks in dominating fashion, 12-0. LRU moves to 1-1 on the season and in non-conference play while CMU is 2-0.

CMU scored within the first minute of the match and never looked back. The Tartans scored five goals in the first half and seven goals in the second. Eight different Carnegie Mellon players scored, four of them registered two goals and twelve of their players registered at least one point.

Freshman Redhawk goalkeeper Bella Costanzo (Carnegie, PA/OLSH) played the first half. She faced 14 shots on goal, made 9 saves and allowed 5 goals. Sophomore GK Casey Semenko (Homestead, PA/Steel Valley) played the second half. She faced 15 shots on goal, made 8 saves and allowed 7 goals.

Overall, CMU outshot LRU 51-1.
