Slow Start Cost Pioneers

SUNY Cobleskill shot 53.7% from the field in the 1st half and forced 14 turnovers as they jumped out to an early lead en route to a 88-61 victory on Saturday afternoon. The game was part of day two action in the Special Tee's Tournament.

Four different Tigers finished in double-figures as they improved to 3-0 on the year. Antwan Claxton led the way with 18 while Daniel Owens had 16. James Conteh finished with 15 and Khayri Harris came off the bench and chipped in 14.

Cobleskill shot 50% from the field for the game and hit eight of their 23 three-point attempts. They also forced the Pioneers into 25 turnovers.

Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) led Alfred State with 11 points and eight boards. Avonte Findley (Manhattan/Urban Assembly) came off the bench and was 3 for 3 and registered 10 points. Tavion Williams (Bronx/FDA) also chipped in nine points. 

Alfred State shot 37.7% from the field for the game and was 6 for 19 from three. They outscored the Tigers 38-36 in the 2nd half.

The Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday when they host cross county rival Houghton for a 7:30 p.m. battle.
