HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Men's Soccer team ran out of time in their late second-half rally and dropped a 3-2 defeat to Morrisville State this afternoon.
The Hawks suffered the team's first loss of the season, but they continue to show improvement and effort as each day passes on the pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jason Vullo put the Hawks on the scoreboard first. He outworked the Mustang defenders, heading a ball to the back of the net at 17:55.
- Just over three minutes later, Morrisville State slipped the ball over the goal line with a crowd in front of the frame, and then finished a hard shot off a Hilbert defender in the 29th minute which lifted them to a 2-1 half time lead.
- Morrisville State set the pace in the second half, outshot the Hawks 13-3 and built a 4-2 advantage in corners in final 45-minutes.
- Olivn Yanes earned his hattrick at 65:18 and gave the Mustangs a 3-1 lead but the Hawks did not quit as they pushed through to the final horn.
- After Chris Smith scored his third hit of the season in the 87th minute Hilbert picked up their energy and outworked the Mustangs for every ball.
GAME NOTES
- Logan Peck was credited with eight saves and Chris Smith led with two shots on goal.
- The Mustangs finished with a 24-10 advantage in shots after the Hawks slowed their second half pace to only three shots.

Hilbert returns to action next Wednesday, September 14 when they travel to Sahlens Sports Park for a rematch against Villa Maria College at 1pm.
