Four Panther Freshmen Post Double-Digit Points in Loss to Medaille

Buffalo, N.Y. -- Freshmen scored 69 points for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team in a 95-76 loss to Medaille on Wednesday night.

Game Notes:

  • The Panthers fell behind in the opening stages of the game before Daniel Lynch was able to get Pitt-Bradford on the board from the free-throw line. Gavin Boggs followed this by stealing the ball and racing down court for a layup.
  • After the Mavericks responded with back to back buckets to take a 9-4 lead, The Panthers started to hit from beyond the arc to take a lead. Nick Carmichael hit the first three from the corner and a possession later Boggs put Pitt-Bradford ahead with a second three.
  • Two free throws broke up the Panther run for a moment, But Pitt-Bradford quickly scored 7 straight to build their largest lead of the game, 6 points. Carmichael got things started with a bucket inside and following a Maverick turnover, Alex Breindel hit a three. The Panthers got another defensive stop and Dylan Meyer closed the run with a mid-range jumper forcing a Medaille timeout.
  • The Mavericks responded to the timeout with a 15-2 run to take the lead. After a Panther timeout and two Deondre Terwilliger free throws, they scored 4 more in a row to push their advantage to 9 points.
  • Pitt-Bradford was able to cut the lead to 5 after a Lynch three-point play, but The Mavericks outscored the Panthers 7-2 over the final two minutes to take a 10 point advantage to the half.
  • The Panthers came out firing out of the break, quickly cutting the deficit to 6. Meyer hit a jumper in the lane to get things started, and following a Maverick response, they scored four straight from the line.
  • Over the next 8 minutes, The Mavericks outscored the Panthers 20-7 to open up a 20 point lead the Panthers would not come back from.

Leaders:

  • Four different players scored in double figures for the Panthers in the game.
  • Daniel Lynch led the way with 18. He made 5 of 10 from the field and made all 8 free throws he attempted. He also grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and recorded 4 steals.
  • Nick Carmichael Scored 16 for Pitt-Bradford. He also shot 50% from the field and made 1 of 3 from deep.
  • Dylan Meyer scored 13 points and led the Panthers with 6 rebounds.
  • Gavin Boggs was the final player to finish in double digits, scoring 23 points. He made 2 of 5 from three and made 2 free throws.

The Panthers are now 1-19 on the season and 0-15 in AMCC Play. They will be back on the road this weekend when they travel to Penn State-Altoona. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
