CRESSON, Pa. - The Hilbert College women's basketball rallied back in the fourth quarter and scored the game winner at the buzzer to earn a 66-64 win over Mount Aloysius College.

Emily Gawlak went on an 8-0 run lifting the Hawks back on top with 2:36 remaining and after  the Mounties forced a 64-64 score with 00:02 left, Ashley Repine powered the Hawks to a 66-64 road win over the Mounties.

HIGHLIGHTS

Emily Gawlak led all scorers with 23 points, Macy Kisner notched eight points and 11 rebounds, three steals and Ashley Repine tossed in 11 points off the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Hawks jumped out to a 5-point lead before the hosts found the bottom of the net. 
• Hilbert built a 10-3 score at 3:48 before they settled on a 15-9 score after ten minutes.
• Demi Battin knocked down a 3-pointer at 6:56 stretching Hilbert's hold to nine points (22-13) but the Mounties responded with back-to-back deep shots, pulling the hosts within three (22-19) midway through the second period.
• Mt. Aloysius knotted the game  28-all and then took their first lead off the ensuing free throw which completed the traditional 3-point play.
• Gawlak swung-it back Hilberts way with her own 3-point play, helping the Hawks to a 33-31 half time advantage.
• Mt. Aloysius, who sank five 3-pointers and a pair of jumpers below the foul line, dominated the third session, outscoring Hilbert 19-13 and led 50-46 by the start of the 4th quarter. 
• Both team traded hoops through five minutes until the Mounties earned a stop against Hilbert and stretched their lead to seven points (50-57) at 4:48.
• Gawlak went on a 8-0 run, gave the Hawks their first lead in final session (58-57) at 2:36.
• Emma Fredo came up with a big defensive steal which led to Ashley Schroeder's trip the charity stripe.
• Hilbert, now holding a 59-57 advantage, whitnessed the hosts going 2-for-2 at the foul line, knotting the game once more.
• Taylor Corts and Kisner went 3-for-4 at the foul line and gave Hilbert a 62-59 nod.
• That three point separation held until the Mounties advanced the ball off a timeout with seven seconds left in regulation.   They connected from deep, forced a 64-64 score with two seconds on the clock.
• Hilbert's timeout advanced the ball and Ashley Repine muscled her way to the rim for the buzzer-beating, game winner. 

GAME NOTES

• Taylor Corts dished five assists, scored four points, and earned five rebounds.  Demi Battin chipped in nine points, hitting all three buckets beyond the arc.
• Hilbert finished the game making 40-percent of their  field goal attempts and 35-percent from downtown.  The made 6-of-8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and closed the game hitting 12-of-19.
• Mt. Aloysius made 52.6-percent of their shots from the floor and an impressive 73.3-percent (11-15) from the 3-point line and 91.7-percent (11-12) at the charity stripe.
• The Hawks held a 10-rebound advantage on the boards (31-21) and earned 14 offensive rebounds.
• Lea Sammarco led the Mounties with 17 points (5-of-8 beyond the arc).

Hilbert returns to the friendly confines of the Hafner Recreation Center next week when they welcome Penn State Behrend (9-4, 6-2) Wednesday, January 15 with a 8pm tip.
