ALFRED, N.Y. – After a 10-day lay-off, the Hilbert College women's volleyball team returned to action this afternoon with a set of games played at Alfred University.

The Hawks competed in only one day of action of the multi-day tournament hosted by Alfred State and Alfred University.  Hilbert dropped a 3-set match to Messiah and fell in defeat (3-1) to Alfred State.

The Falcons didn't waste time in the morning game, winning 25-5, 25-5, 25-14.  Hilbert struggled to return Messiah's serves as the Hawks posted 13 receiving errors.

Maegann Mein led with three kills while Ashley Repine earned three solo blocks. Torianna LeWand and Sara Trzepkowski were credited with 8 and 7 digs, respectively.

Then in the 2pm game, Hilbert took the Pioneers to a 4-set match.  The Hawks fell behind 25-12, and 25-11 before they rallied to a 26-24 victory in the third set.  A-State took the fourth and then match set victory 25-13.

Repine added eight kills of the Hawks 15 for the match and led with 12 digs.  Hannah Prenoveau posted her first double-digit digs performance as she collected 10 digs.  LeWand was credited with eight assists and five service aces.

Hilbert returns to league play next week when they welcome Pitt-Bradford to the Hafner Center for a 7pm game October 17.
