Women's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw

HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Hilbert College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 2OT tie with AMCC league leaders, La Roche College this afternoon.

The Hawks celebrated the success of the team's five seniors before the game.

Hilbert  (8-3-1) took the 7-4-1 Redhawks to 110 minutes of knotted action as each team picked-up one point in the league standings.  Hilbert, at 3-1-1, trail La Roche (4-0-1) and Penn State Behrend (4-0) as the Hawks continue battle for a play-off spot and write their future.

Jennifer Colvin tallied her 10th goal of the season at 26:43 when she sprinted to a through ball passed by Jordan Collins.  Colvin went 1 v 1 against Jessica Welka and snuck the ball around her for the Hawks' 1-0 lead.

Statistically, the game was even, but Hilbert controlled the pace in the first 45-mintues and earned six corner kicks.

After intermission, La Roche turned up their heat and drew a matching goal in the 64th minute.  Jenna Castricone came out of the goal to play a long ball and Vanessa Ceravolo angled the ball around Castricone on the ground.

The Redhawks outshot Hilbert 8-4 in the second half but that was the only stat Hilbert drew the short straw on.  The Hawks attempted 15 corner kicks through the extended session game.

Catricone earned eight saves to help the Hawks stay atop in the league rankings.

Hilbert (0-4-1) will close the home portion of their 2016 regular season schedule when they host Penn State Behrend (3-0-1) on Tuesday, October 11 in a 2:00 pm start.  The Hawks have three more AMCC games on the road - at Mt. Aloysius (3-1), D'Youville (1-4) and Greensburg (1-1-1) before they learn their fate and future for play-offs.
