Buffalo, N.Y. - The Hilbert College men's soccer team fell at the hands of Buffalo Cup rival Medaille by a final of 8-0 tonight at the Medaille Sports Complex at Buffalo Color Park.

Hilbert (0-11-1, 0-8) faced a tall task going on the road to a crosstown rival in Medaille (10-4-2, 8-0-1), currently sit on top of the AMCC league standings with an undefeated record in league play. However, freshman Hector Harris was up for the challenge as he posted a team season-high 21 saves in his first career start in goal for the royal and white. 

The Mavericks had constant pressure in the Hawks end from start to finish, outshooting Hilbert 43-1, including 29-0 on net. The Mavs also held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. However, the Hawks were able to keep their rival off the scoreboard through the first 27 minutes of action thanks in large part to the outstanding play of Harris in net.

The continued pressure proved to be too much as Medaille built a 4-0 lead going into the intermission, despite 17 first half saves coming from the Hawks freshman. Medaille continued to widen their lead with 4 second half goals, en route to an 8-0 win over Hilbert.  

Harris 21 saves on the night were the most by a Hilbert goalkeeper since junior Tucker Reynolds was credited with 24 saves against Pitt-Greensburg on September 22, 2018.

Hilbert will close out their home slate against Penn State Altoona on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00pm. Prior to the pregame introductions, Hilbert will honor this year's lone senior, Brandon Bundschuh at midfield and invite all to attend.
