Pitt-Bradford Softball to Take on LaRoche on Senior Day

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team will return home for their second doubleheader in Bradford this Saturday, when they host the La Roche Redhawks in an AMCC matchup. The games will also serve as the Panthers' Senior Day.

The Panthers enter the day at 6-18 with a 2-4 record in AMCC play. They are coming off a rough outing in Erie, when they were swept by Penn State-Behrend in home games moved to Erie due to weather and field conditions in Bradford.

Pitt-Bradford's offense has been led by Lexi Peters, who leads the team with a .395 batting average and 15 runs batted in. Marguerite DeFranco is hitting .361 in 36 plate appearances, while Faith McLaughlin is coming off of a game in which she hit her first career home run. Ashley Stein is the reigning AMCC Pitcher of the Week as she spun a complete-game shutout in her last game in Bradford. Freshman Kindra Wessels enters the game leading the team with a 4.60 ERA.

LaRoche is 8-10 this season with a 3-5 record in AMCC play. They are on a 3 game winning streak after winning the nightcap in a doubleheader with Alfred State and sweeping Pitt-Greensburg last night.

The Redhawks have been led by their offense, which has three players with a batting average over .400 18 games into the season. Freshman Garrah Milochik leads the way at .471, which leads the AMCC. Ashtin Hoover leads the team with 26 hits, while Emilee Waldrop and Macy Vignolini are hitting .412 and .405 respectively. The Redhawks have three pitchers who have tallied more than 30 innings. Waldrop leads the way with a 4.73 era, while Alexis Myers is just behind her at 4.77. Carlie Dillon leads the staff in strikeouts with 22.

Prior to the action, the Panthers will take a moment to recognize two players who will see their careers come to a close at the end of the season. Senior Cather KT Marx has led the Panthers this season from behind the plate. She is hitting .237 so far this season and already has set career highs in hits, runs, and extra-base hits. Junior infielder Dolcey Shunk will also be recognized as she is set to graduate next December. Shunk has been a strong defensive presence at the hot corner for her three seasons with the program. Offensively she has chipped in with a .270 career batting average with 18 runs scored.

The Senior Day festivities are scheduled to begin at approximately 1:55, with first pitch occurring shortly afterward.
