Panthers Host Bobcats in Pivotal AMCC Matchup

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh Bradford baseball team will look to continue its strong run of results as they host Pitt-Greensburg in a matchup that will have a large part in determining playoff positioning.

The Panthers enter the game on a strong run of results, winning three of their last four games. On Wednesday, the Panthers used two dominant pitching performances to take down Medaille 3-1 and 6-1. Reid Tarnowski won game one, allowing just one unearned run to score over 7 innings pitched. He struck out 8. Miles went the distance in the 9 inning contest, striking out 13 batters on the way to his 4th complete game of the season.

The Panther offense is paced by its catcher/designated hitter combo of Evan Fragela and Jake McNabb. Fragela leads the Panthers with a .360 batting average. He also has 9 doubles, 11 runs batted in, and a .482 on-base percentage, which is the 4th best in the AMCC. McNabb is hitting .319 and has driven in 14 runs. Tyler Aires leads the team with 17 RBIs and Noah Meyers has the most home runs with 3.

Senior southpaw Alex Fetter comes into the day after picking up his first career complete-game shutout in the Panthers 8-0 victory over La Roche. Fetter kept the Redhawks off the board after scattering 8 hits while walking none. He struck out 9 in the win. Freshman Trent Bielak has been the Panthers' strongest performer from the bullpen. He has made 7 appearances, allowing only 2 earned runs in 10 innings pitched.

The Bobcats have struggled so far this season as they enter the game with a 2-20 record. They have started off their conference campaign 2-6, picking up wins over Penn State-Behrend and La Roche.

Jacob Davey leads the offense with a .387 batting average. He reaches base at a 47.7% clip and has scored 9 runs and driven in 9 more. Brody Bonadio leads the team with 32 hits and has a .352 batting average. He has scored 12 runs.

The Bobcat pitching staff has struggled to keep their opponents off the board as they have compiled a 9.84 earned run average through 22 games. Michael Sullivan Jr. has pitched the most innings for Pitt-Greensburg at 34.1 and has a 6.55 ERA and one of the team's wins. Steven Muratore has made 8 appearances out of the bullpen. He has pitched 13.1 innings and has an ERA of 2.70.

Prior to the action, the Panthers will take a few moments to recognize their eleven seniors. The players that will be recognized are Noah Meyers, Reid Tarnowski, Kevin Rehak, Jake McNabb, David Gebhard, Ben Mulhall, Alex Fetter, Tyler Aires, Alex Miles, Justin Dattoli, and Kai Joseph.
