Pioneers Comeback Falls Short

The Alfred State Men's Basketball team fell in tonight's match-up against SUNY Poly in 65-62. The Pioneers put together a comeback effort that fell just short in the last possession.

Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley) was a force all over the court for Alfred State. Schneider tallied 11 points and 11 boards for his first double-double of the season. He also notched five assists, five steals and three blocks, making his presence on the defensive side. Paris Jamison (Brooklyn, NY / East Side) led the Pioneers in scoring again with 18.

Alfred State found themselves down 14 points with 8:46 remaining in the second half, before cutting it down to two with less than 2 minutes left. Their comeback fell short, as the Pioneers missed the game-tying three as the clock ran out. The Pioneers were strong on defense forcing 21 turnovers and capitalizing with 26 points off those turnovers.

The Wildcats' leading scorer was Jesse O'Dell with 21 points and ten rebounds, notching his first double-double of the season.

The Pioneers play again at 2 p.m. against SUNY Canton at Alfred University.
