Eagles Shut Down Lions 3-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer was held scoreless on Tuesday evening, when Juniata College posted a 3-0 win over the Lions at Gibbel Stadium.

The Eagles (4-4) got goals from Cohen Wilkins, Henry Doherty, and Bass Diakhoumpa in the win.

Penn State Altoona (2-5) was held to just one shot on goal, with that coming off the foot of Jinkwon Song. Song finished with three shots attempted, while Jordan Francis (East Stroudsburg, PA/Notre Dame East Stroudsburg) and Jon Kadoch (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) had two apiece, and Brad Heacock (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) took one.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made five saves in goal for Penn State Altoona.

Wilkins drew first blood shortly before halftime, when his goal at 36:03 put Juniata on top. Doherty added a goal at 62:58, and Diakhoumpa's penalty kick goal at 83:27 extended the home team's lead to 3-0.

Juniata finished the game with a 21-8 advantage over Penn State Altoona in shots, including an 8-1 lead in shots on goal. The Eagles also led 5-3 in corner kicks.

Lions soccer gets back at it tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18, when the team travels to play Saint Vincent College at 4:00 p.m.
