Hawks Sweep Lancaster Bible To Split the Day



BUFFALO, N.Y.Korey Schwab's 6 kills per set led Hilbert College in their straight-set victory in the morning match against Lancaster Bible College and carried them with eight more kills in the late night contest vs. Keuka College as Hilbert finished the day 1-1. 

The 2015 NEAC regular season games conclude tomorrow with the final day of cross-over matches at Medaille College.   Hilbert (2-24, 2-11) close-out their first NEAC season with an 11 am re-match against Penn State Altoona.

Hilbert started the noon match with a 25-19 win before they sprinted to an 11 point triumph (25-14).  With everyone on the team seeing action, the Hawks held on for a 26-24 set/match victory and captured a sweep over Lancaster Bible this season.

Korey Schwab dominated the net with 18 kills, zero hitting errors (.600).  The junior outside hitter also connected for two service aces and five digs. Brett Kane, Ryan Brewster and Andrew Duncan were the only other Hawks to reach for more than two kills as they earned four, four and three, respectively.

Ryan Ratajczak reached double figure digs with 10 and Adam Heftka assisted 31 times and paired those passes with three service aces and four digs.

Hilbert earned 36 kills and finished with their second-best hitting percentage (.217) to pick up their second win of the season.

After a long break in play, Hilbert and Keuka College closed the NEAC day of competition with an 8pm contest.  The Hawks challenged the Wolfpack, but fell in three sets (25-20,25-17,25-21). 

Schwab and Andrew Wolbert combined for 14 of Hilbert's 26 team kills.  Korey Schwab added eight more kills to his day's total while Wolbert knocked down six kills.

Brett Kane led the Hawks with six digs as Adam Heftka assisted 24 markers.  Andrew Duncan picked up the only solo block for the match.

Medaille and D'Youville Colleges have clinched a spot in the four-team NEAC play-offs.  Keuka College (8-5) has a one-game lead over SUNY Poly and Wells who sit in a tie with an 8-6 league record.

Career Number Updates:
*Korey Schwab took over second place with 572 kills as he moved ahead of Dan Wolfe's 560.
*Adam Heftka is only 17 assists away from claiming the career leader spot.  His 1104 assists trail David Mellerski's 1120.  Prior to this season, Vincent Amico built a two-year 1,002 career figure.
*Korey Schwab holds onto the number three spot with 66 career service aces and is five aces away from the number two spot.
*Ryan Ratajczak continues to build his current career number.  His 1,136 digs is 500 more than Dan Wolfe's 612 career digs.
*Andrew Duncan has accumulated 104 career block assists and when combining his 28 block solos (8th) the senior sits in a third-place tie with 132 career total blocks.  He is 12 total blocks away from jumping over 143 Dan Wolfe's career-leader.
*Ryan Ratajczak's 381 sets played and 114 matches played continues to blow away his former teammates totals.  He has a 40-set separation and 12 matches lead at this time with three matches left in his career.
