MARCY, N.Y. – It has been 673 days since the Hilbert College Men's Soccer program competed in a Division III soccer match. Tonight, the young Hawks played tough through the first 45 minutes, but the Wildcats from SUNY Poly found their offensive punch in the second half and scooped a 9-nill victory to open the 2021 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Poly went up 3-0 by intermission, sneaking balls past the Hawks' keeper in the 11th, 28th and 42nd minute of the opening period.
- The Wildcats then padded back-to-back hits in the opening three-minute span of the second half and built a 5-0 lead.
- The hosts tacked a pair of double scores to close the game. One series in the 60th and 65th minute before they tallied a break away in the 85th which was followed with a PK just 46 seconds later.
GAME NOTES
- Solomon Bonane was credited with Hilbert's single shot in the game.
- Logan Peck (10 saves) went 66 minutes deep between the pipes before Ben Chowaniec closed the final 23+ minutes in goal making two saves.
- SUNY Poly outshot the Hawks 38-1, and held a slight edge in corner kicks (4-3) while Hilbert was credited with 12 saves in the non-conference match.
UP NEXT
Hilbert closes their first week of competition with back-to-back road games this weekend. The Hawks will face Cazenovia College Friday, the 3rd and then meet-up with the Hilbert women's team in a double header non-conference match at Elmira College Saturday, the 4th.
