Lions Downed 4-1 by Medaille

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer was handed a 4-1 loss on Saturday afternoon against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Medaille College at Spring Run Stadium.

Jinkwon Song (Uiwang, Korea/McLean) scored his first collegiate goal for Penn State Altoona (4-8-1, 2-2 AMCC) in the loss. Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) totaled seven saves in goal for the Lions.

Medaille (5-4-2, 3-0-1 AMCC) scored three goals in less than five minutes during the first half, jumping out to a 3-0 lead.

Joel Rodwell provided the visitors' first goal at 14:56, chipping a short shot past the goalkeeper after Carlos Espana tapped a pass in front of the goal from the end line following a save. Joaquin Tenes made it 2-0 just 33 seconds later, when he shot a deflected ball into the goal from six yards out. Mitchell Ali increased Medaille's lead to 3-0 at 19:46, taking a long cross pass from Eric Metade and sending a short shot into the net.

Penn State Altoona got on the board at 27:12, when Song converted on a penalty kick to notch his first career goal.

But Ali recorded his second goal of the game at 33:38 when he took Jack Napier's pass and beat the keeper on a shot to make it 4-1.

That goal closed the scoring for the game, and Medaille left with the three-goal win.

The Mavericks led Penn State Altoona in shots attempted (15-6), shots on goal (11-4), and corner kicks (5-2).

Next up, the men's soccer team will host AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m.
