Three Pioneers Score in Double Digits in Pitt. Greensburg Loss

Three members of the Alfred State College Pioneers women's basketball team scored in double digits in their 74-61 loss to the Pitt. Greensburg Bobcats Saturday evening inside Orvis Gymnasium.

The Pioneers had an unexpected COVID break and have not played since December 30. Both teams went into the afternoon undefeated in the AMCC.

Alfred State moves to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the AMCC while Pitt. Greensburg improve to 10-2 and 5-0 in the conference.

The Pioneers recorded 37.5% in field goals, 33 rebounds,16 assists and scored 17 points off their 21 turnovers. The Bobcats shot 44.1% in field goals, were 8-for-10 in free throws, had 54 rebounds and 20 assists.

Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the team with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) made her Alfred State debut and scored 16 points with six rebounds and two assists. My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) added 15 points, four rebounds and four assists and Emily Kelley (Andover) had eight points and six rebounds.

The Bobcats out-scored the Pioneers 19-7 in the first quarter and 20-14 in the second to head into halftime up 39-21.

The Pioneers out-paced Pitt. Greensburg 23-17 in the third to close the gap but the Bobcats had a one-point advantage in the fourth quarter, 18-17, to take the 13-point win.

Alfred State is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 19 to play at Penn State-Behrend in a conference game at 5:30
