Keuka Best Men's Lacrosse, 21-6

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - La Roche men's lacrosse fell in their fourth non-conference game of the season at Keuka College Saturday afternoon, 21-6. The Wolves pulled away early, out-scoring the Redhawks 12-0 through the first 25 minutes of action. Keuka has established themselves an extremely solid lacrosse program out of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, posting nine straight winning seasons dating back to 2011.

Five Wolves scored multiple goals in today's contest, led by brothers Chris Bellance (5) and Michael Bellance (4).

La Roche's goalkeeper, Chris Sylvis, played all 60 minutes. He faced 43 shots and made 22 saves (.512 SV%)

For the second straight game, Senior attack Mitchell Bachman led the Redhawks with three goals and a team-high seven shots. Bachman added two assists, caused turnover and a ground ball.

Robert Richardson, Austen Lunt and Zach Opalko each contributed a goal.

How it Happened

Keuka's Chris Bellanca struck first less than a minute into the contest. The wolves would rattle off three more goals in the next four minutes to take an early 4-0 lead. After one period, Keuka led 7-0, Michael Bellanca and Kasey Gallina each had a hat trick in the first.

The wolves would find the back of the net five more times before LRU's Austen Lunt got the Redhawks on the scoreboard on an unassisted goal with 3:48 to go in the second. Keuka would head into halftime ahead 13-1.

La Roche's best period was the third where they scored four goals, but they still allowed Keuka to score five. Bachman scored three of them off two assists from Devin Wolford and one from Brent Burkhouse.

Robert Richardson would score the first goal of the fourth before the wolves tacked on three more to build their cushion to 15.

Inside the Box Score

The Redhawks were 0-4 on man up opportunities while the wolves were 2-4.

LRU took just 10 shots on goal compared to Keuka's 43.

La Roche committed a season-high 36 turnovers, the host committed 16.

Shawn McDanel won 17 of 29 faceoffs and snagged a team-high 11 ground balls.

NEXT UP: The Redhawks return home this Wednesday, March 11th to take on Wilmington (Oh.). Game-time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Baierl Athletic Complex Turf field on La Roche's campus.
