Panthers Take on Spartans in Play 4 Kay Game

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team is looking to build momentum off of their weekend victory over Mount Aloysius when they host the D'Youville Spartans on Wednesday night. The game will also serve as the Panthers' Play 4 Kay game.

The Panthers enter the game coming off of their first win of 2020. They erased a 7 point 4th quarter deficit to defeat Mount Aloysius 59-55. Shirleah Ragin led the way for the Panthers with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Daizjah Brown scored a career-high 16 points and Shaelyn Snipes posted her 4th double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ragin is the Panthers leading scorer this year, averaging 11.4 points per game.

The Spartans are 15-8 on the season and 13-5 in AMCC play. They are currently in 4th place in the conference standings. D'Youville is on a 3 game winning streak, defeating Franciscan in their last game by a score of 74-62. Sara Pfeiffer is the Spartans leading scorer on the season, averaging 21.2 points per game in 12 games played. Danielle Hore also scores in double digits, scoring 13.5 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 8 rebounds per contest. In their previous matchup this season, The Panthers were able to jump ahead of the Spartans in the first quarter but were unable to hold off the Spartans, who won the game 73-59. 

In the game, the Panthers and Spartans will both be playing in support of breast cancer awareness, as the teams join the Play 4 Kay initiative. Throughout both of the day's games members of the women's basketball team and the Pitt-Bradford SAAC will be in the lobby distributing information about the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the disease itself. , as well as allowing willing spectators to fill out placards to be a part of a pregame ceremony honoring those who have or are fighting the disease. Additionally, there will be a sign up for the Play 4 Kay free-throw challenge. Donations can be made in set amounts or made per free throw for the game. All information will be available in the lobby of the McDowell Sports and Fitness Center. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
